At 12:15 pm Glen Rothstein, Guest Curator for the exhibition and the local representative of the American Kitefliers Association, will offer a presentation on the many aspects of kiting including recreation, physical activity, and the principles of aerodynamics, among others. Stay to make a “cobra kite” of your own to fly at a local park or kite festival (1:00 to 4:00 pm).
At 2:00 pm visitors will have the rare opportunity to meet Tyrus Wong, the 103-year-old Chinese-American artist, master kite designer, and Disney legend, who was lead artist on the animated classic, Bambi. Mr. Wong will sign copies of his book, Water to Paper, Paint to Sky: The Art of Tyrus Wong, which is available in the Museum Store.
