Discover the artistry and engineering behind rapidly advancing aeronautical technologies from the kite through the space age, as well as Pasadena’s key place in the story of flight in the exhibition Kites, Wings, & Other Flying Things.

From Noon to 4:00 pm you can create a propeller flier with Art 2 Go craftmaster Helen Marish. How far will your propeller go?  Test it out in the beautiful Fenyes Estate Garden!

At 12:15 pm Glen Rothstein, Guest Curator for the exhibition and the local representative of the American Kitefliers Association, will offer a presentation on the many aspects of kiting including recreation, physical activity, and the principles of aerodynamics, among others.  Stay to make a “cobra kite” of your own to fly at a local park or kite festival (1:00 to 4:00 pm).

At 2:00 pm visitors will have the rare opportunity to meet Tyrus Wong, the 103-year-old Chinese-American artist, master kite designer, and Disney legend, who was lead artist on the animated classic, Bambi.
